Description:

Recommended for Grade 12

The primary goal of the forty lesson plans in this unit is to assist high school seniors to pull all the pieces of their religious education into an integrated whole. Students are asked to examine what they believe about God and the Church and how they can best live according to their faith.

This resource provides a doctrinal review of Catholic belief to insure religious literacy. It serves as a springboard for fostering lifelong commitment to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Such commitment is addressed with psychological developmental theory and practical spiritual direction methodology. Emphasis is placed on the use of the Bible as a source of information about our faith and for inspiration for a deeper love of God. Procedures are easily adjusted to meet students’ needs.

The text consists of ten parts: What Is Faith; Faith Development; Ultimate Questions; God, the Answer; Kingdom of God vs. Kingdom of the World; Personal Conversion; Growing in Relationship with Jesus; Models of Spirituality; Stumbling Blocks; and Ongoing Formation. This resource includes many references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and is to be used in conjunction with the Student Exercise Book by the same title.

Activities:
Teachers guide student discussions and encourage students to reflect on experiences. In addition, teachers engage students in a variant of the traditional faith walk, and they direct students to write a spiritual autobiography and to design a billboard that proclaims the kingdom of God.
