This program helps facilitators respond to the needs of adults who are seeking greater depth in their spiritual lives but who have minimal familiarity with the Bible or with approaches to prayer.
Sessions dispel anxiety and engage participants in discussion of and reflection on selected scriptural passages. Handouts and activities explain ways of praying with Scripture and invite further growth in both knowledge and faith. Sessions can be used as individual classes, if desired, and in any order. They can enrich parish programs, including the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, and retreat center offerings.
Topics include Lectio Divina, contemplation, the Ignatian approach to imaginative prayer, psalms, discernment, perseverance in prayer, and the liturgy.
Participants take part in discussions and prayer, share experiences, and read and reflect on scriptural passages.
