In the spirit of Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us (USCCB) this series creates a “vibrant learning environment,” integrating “actual life experience, diverse adult learning needs, the study of Scripture, and the teaching of the Church’s tradition.” The six learning sessions in each book are independent and interactive. The format (approximately 2 ½ hours) includes lectionary prayer, presentations, quiet reflection, group activities, discussion, and reproducible take-home handouts. A broad overview of foundational topics supported by flexible scheduling allows adult groups to customize their own formation program. Whole community catechesis assemblies, lay ecclesial ministers, catechetical leaders, deacons, initiation teams, mystagogia groups, and campus ministers will experience opportunities for deeper understanding, spiritual growth, and pastoral skill development through these sessions.
